Good alternative to Michelin pr4
2016 BMW R1200RS I have run many Brands of tires over many years on different motorcycles and had come to rely on Michelin Pilot Roads as my "go to" long distance trip tires in all their incremental offerings, but I just didn't like the wear and handling of the PR4 series (I see the new 5 has many changes) and Michelin has gotten very proud of their prices. friends had reported good results with the older version(s) Dunlop Road Smarts in the past and with great pricing offers it made a great opportunity to try them. Only 3500 miles previous to trading for another BMW, but overall huge value, great handling in dry and wet conditions on our Smoky Mountain roads. Can't report on longevity due to trade, but rear only showed very minor flattening in center and front had slightest hint of cupping if looking very close. I run my bike hard and weigh 250 pounds so in my case, that is very good results and if extrapolated would easily match the Michelin for anticipated wear. Price point makes it a excellent option.

I have these on my 09 FJR1300 as an alternative (cheaper) to the Michelin PR4 GT. So far have only ridden on the freeway for about 4K miles. Front is cupping the center 3 inches badly and has become noisy. I run 40psi front and 42psi rear. The Michelin PR4GT cups the shoulders after about 8K miles. The rear is wearing well, no issues. Freeway traction, wet and dry, is good. I Will finally get some curvy road riding in this weekend down the California coast two up. Have been wanting to test the tires and my Race Tech front, Ohlins rear suspension up grades.
