Yamaha’s 847cc liquid-cooled Triple XSR900 will be available as a limited edition in 2017, though there’s no word if it will be sold in North America. The custom bike debuted during this year’s EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy; a fitting location since this particular XSR900 was built in collaboration with Abarth, an Italian car manufacturer that’s been involved in racing for more than 60 years.
The XSR900 Abarth sports café-racer styling, with a carbon fiber front cowl and tail section. The round rear taillight is integrated into the new tail, and builders incorporated a new suede solo seat. Ride position is geared toward the sporty side, with clubman handlebars and rear-positioned footpegs. It also features a full Akrapovic titanium exhaust system for a more custom look and sound. Finally, an Abarth grey and red color scheme was used throughout.
Yamaha will be producing 695 units for purchase. Each XSR900 Abarth will feature an individually numbered plaque to signify its limited status. Yamaha offers special a special VIP Abarth Experience to the first 95 customers to register an online order, but as mentioned above, it doesn’t appear the offer will be extended to the North American market. The remaining 600 units will be available through participating Yamaha dealerships from April 2017 on.
