The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice for certain 2016-2017 Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro motorcycles. According to the Safety Recall Report submitted by Ducati North America, “the rear shock absorber lower shock-end eyelet can crack and in rare cases could break.” If this should happen, the swingam could detach from the rear shock, increasing the risk of a serious incident. There are 568 units affected.
Internal, off-road testing revealed the defect and to-date there have been no complaints or warranty claims submitted, nor any crashes or injuries reported as a result of the issue.
Ducati plans to notify affected owners and dealers will be instructed to replace the rear shock absorber assembly, free of charge. For more information contact Ducati customer service at 1-800-231-6696. The Ducati recall ID number is SRV-RCL-17-002.
