The American motorcycle road race series, MotoAmerica, continues to expand as it enters its third season in 2017. The now 10-round championship kicks off in April and one of the most intriguing classes in the paddock, the KTM RC Cup, returns as well. This is the venue for up-and-coming racers, ages 14-22, to show their stuff alongside seasoned professionals, to gain valuable competitive experience and hopefully catch the eye of teams further up the ladder.
One of the remarkable things about the class is the commitment KTM has made with its RC Cup Racebikes. These are available to qualified participants for a nominal fee (compared to what some will spend to make a motorcycle competitive) and help to level the playing field by ensuring everyone in the class is aboard equal machinery. KTM has announced that 2017 RC Cup Racebikes are now available for purchase.
As part of the announcement, KTM revealed some of the features that make the RC Cup Racebikes special in 2017. These items include a fully adjustable WP Racing Fork and Racing Rear Shock, Akrapovic exhaust, RC8-R throttle assembly, CNC machined levers and rear sets along with a racing windshield, belly pan and tail fairing.
Engines on these bikes are sealed, and HMC Racing is the only entity allowed to service the mills. The KTM HMC Racing partnership ensures trained technicians are present during race weekends and that parts are available for purchase if necessary. HMC techs also do all safety checks prior to races and a KTM HMC semi-truck and hospitality area are on site for participants.
For those that purchase a KTM RC Cup Racebike prior to March 31, 2017, there’s some added benefits as well. Here’s the rundown courtesy of the KTM press release:
Synchrony Financial will provide a KTM RC Cup 10×10 EZ-Up for new KTM RC Cup Racers to display in the MotoAmerica pits. KTM will ship EZ-Ups directly to participants who have a season-entry to the MotoAmerica Series. All other MotoAmerica participants will receive shipping confirmation on an individual basis.
Motion Pro will offer each Official KTM RC Cup Racer the option to purchase Motion Pro products at 50% off the retail price up. Additionally, Motion Pro will offer contingency to the top three finishers in each MotoAmerica race. A representative from Motion Pro will contact participants after the motorcycle has been warranty registered.
Motorex will offer a sponsorship package including $500 in Motorex product and a discount on all Motorex product purchased throughout the racing season. A representative from Motorex will contact participants after the motorcycle has been warranty registered.
GiMOTO is offering KTM RC Cup Racers a semi-customizable, made to measure racing suit that is handmade and constructed in Italy at the discounted price. For more details, please see your local authorized KTM dealer.
