The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice for 2016-2017 Ducati XDiavel motorcycles. The bikes affected were produced from July 7, 2015 to June 22, 2016 and “may have an insufficiently tightened final drive pulley retaining nut,” according to the NHTSA.
To date, Ducati has received 25 field reports related to the issue. There are no crashes or injuries listed in the Defect Notice submitted to the NHTSA however.
Ducati will replace the affected parts free of charge, adding a new washer made from harder material and increasing the torque on the retaining nut from 186 Nm to 250 Nm.
Owners will be notified, but may also contact Ducati customer service directly at 1-800-231-6696 for more information. Ducati’s recall ID number is RCL-16-003.
