A new exhaust is one of the most common upgrades motorcyclists make to their machines. It’s a quick way to add some power, improve the aural note of the bike and give it a fresh look. So we decided to make this improvement to our long-term 2016 Kawasaki Z800 ABS with a slip-on kit from Yoshimura R&D, based out of Chino, California.
Yoshimura R&D’s approach to business is one we appreciate; all the parts it sells in the USA are made in the USA. It also offers lifetime product support services, including refurbishment and accident repair. Sure these cost a bit, but it’s nowhere near the expense of a new system. It’s nice to know that if you buy a Yosh pipe and want to keep it in top working order for the life of the motorcycle, there’s a way to do it directly through the factory.
We chose the Alpha Stainless Steel Slip-On kit, a tidy package that would really clean up the look of the Z800. It’s also part of the Yoshimura Street Series, so it’s designed to be legal for public roads.
We’ve included a step-by-step walk through of the install process in the video above along with the main steps in photos below.
