Last week we brought you a closer look at the new Alpinestars Missile Leather jacket, and now we turn our attention to a few more sport selections. Namely, two one-piece suits and a pair of sport-oriented boots that won’t break the bank.
Missile Leather Suit
Another Tech-Air Race Airbag System compatible piece is the Missile Leather Suit. Alpinestars followed the same formula as was described in reference to the Missile Jacket. Full bovine leather construction, performance fit, Hyper-Res Stretch Fiber panels and accordion panels for precise fit, comfort and protection.
Perforation panels are included throughout to improve airflow, including in the aerodynamically designed back hump.
There are Alpinestars race-derived CE-approved protectors in the elbows, shoulders, knees and at the tibias. You also get Dynamic Friction Shield (DFS) dual density TPU sliders on the shoulders and knees, along with external DFS knee sliders. The incorporated elbows sliders make used of a triple-density polymer compound and snap connectors inside fit optional CE Level 2 Nucleon Race Back Protector. The chest pad compartments accommodate Nucleon protectors and PE foam padding is included on the chest, hips, coccyx and upper arms as well.
There are accordion flex panels on the lumbar, knees, elbows and rear shoulders to compliment the pre-curved design for optimum comfort.
You get a removable mesh liner inside, 3D textured collar and zippered calf expansion gussets along with YKK zippers throughout.
The Missile Leather Suit will be available in Euro sizes 46-60 and price at $999.95.
The CE-certified SMX-S Boot comes to the US as one of the most affordable, full-length sporting options in Alpinestars’ line-up, carrying a price tag of $219.95.
The upper is a microfiber material complemented by ergonomically designed TPU shin plates, shift pads, double density ankle protectors layered on the lateral and medial sides and no-screw, replaceable toe sliders. Lateral TPR-injected ankle protectors provide additional impact protection and stability.
The boot’s last, the form used during construction to dial dimensions such as heel and forefoot width, instep height and toe box depth, is new to accommodate a broader range of foot sizes without sacrificing a precise feel at the controls.
Inside is a breathable textile material with anti-slide suede in the heels. A dual compound anatomic footbed features EVA and Lyrca to enhance comfort and support. The internal toe box has protection layered under the upper also.
The medial-side entries have elastic mounted zippers and wide Velcro closures. The SMX-S boots also come with a new compound rubber sole for reliable grip, water dispersion and durability.
Youth GP Plus Leather Suit
For younger and smaller riders, Alpinestars offers the Youth GP Plus Leather Suit. It’s made from 1.3mm bovine leather and comes with external polymer shoulder protectors. Inside are race-derived, CE-approved elbow, knee, shoulder and tibia protectors. Replaceable PU knee sliders are equipped as well.
PE foam padding is located on the chest, hips and coccyx also, and those looking to upgrade the safety protection can add the Nucleon KR-Y Youth Protector, sold separately.
The back hump is aerodynamically optimized for airflow and stability at speed, and accordion stretch panels work with polyamide stretch fabric to facilitate comfortable movement on the bike. Pre-curved sleeves and legs also add to the precise fit of the suit.
Perforations throughout push air through and a removable mesh linter can be washed, to ensure things inside stay fresh. There’s also a 3D textured fabric collar included.
Sizes are children’s 130, 140 or 150 and the price starts at $699.95.
