Valentino Rossi will head to Aragon this weekend, though his status remains unclear at the moment as to whether or not he will line up for competition. According to a team press release, Rossi made the decision to attend following a medical check-up after turning some laps at Misano. He will have to pass another mandatory physical check-up with the Motorland Aragon Chief Medical Officer before he’s fully cleared to participate.
Rossi broke his leg in an enduro training accident three weeks ago and was unable to participate in the previous MotoGP round at Misano. He currently sits fourth overall in the championship, 42 points adrift of leader Marc Marquez.
Replacement rider Michael van der Mark will be on hand to take the helm should Rossi find his physical condition unsuitable for Sunday’s race.
